Genesis on Balancing Burnout and Patience

How do you prevent stress or burnout, and what does self-care look like for you?
As someone who juggles multiple leadership roles, I’ve learned that setting boundaries and prioritizing self-care are essential to maintaining my energy and focus. I take things one day at a time and always remind myself that I can’t pour into others if I’m running on empty. I’ve become more intentional about my personal well-being—whether that means dedicating my weekends to recharging, traveling with my husband, or indulging in a spa day to unwind. Simple practices like journaling, mindful eating, and regular exercise also help me stay centered as I navigate both my professional and personal responsibilities. Most importantly, I’ve learned to say no when I need to. Setting boundaries has been a game changer in preventing burnout and ensuring that I can show up as my best self for the people and causes I care about.

What is a skill you believe everyone should develop to succeed in today’s world?
Patience is one of the most underrated skills, yet it’s crucial for long-term success. In today’s fast-paced world, I see so many people expecting immediate results, but the reality is that success takes time, persistence, and preparation. I’ve had to learn that when something is meant for me, it will come in due time—but I also have to be ready for it. My career has been built on embracing the journey, learning from setbacks, and constantly evolving. I advise others to focus on personal and professional growth rather than rushing to achieve superficial milestones. Trusting the process and staying committed to long-term goals will always yield greater rewards than shortcuts.

I’ve been fortunate to build a career that aligns with my purpose, and I’m passionate about using my platform to uplift others. My reflections on self-care and patience are just a small part of what’s shaped my path.
